A reader asks; what’s up with the rare-earths agreement?

What does the agreement represent?

Someone asked me about the rare earth metals agreement with Zelinsky and Ukraine. Specifically, I was asked to comment on the back tracking of Trump’s demands regarding payback for prior military spending.

Here’s my response. I have been attempting to understand Trump’s psychology and way of doing things. I suspect that the agreement that was just reached was most likely the one that Trump expected to be approved all along.

President Trump most likely knew that he could not work out a decent agreement, which demanded payback for prior defense spending. Those terms would have been too onerous to Ukraine. But Trump knew that if he took that off the table, the agreement would now be accepted and ratified.

Thus, Trump scared Ukraine’s government, while concomitantly trolling the Democrat opposition. He essentially got what he wanted all along. I think the agreement works out well with Trump saving face. At least Trump can claim to his supporters that any military transfers will be self-sustaining and not based on deficit spending and borrowing. Of course, this is unlike the Biden regime’s stance.

To be honest, I have to conclude that the agreement itself is somewhat arbitrary and is not the important issue. Rather, I view this agreement as a symbol of Trump’s acceptance that Ukraine is in a bad position and needs help. The European Union is still not truly stepping up.

Ukrainians know the war is real

I watch a number of foreign YouTubers who travel regularly to Ukraine and who interview the common people on the street around that country. One of the most frequently discussed topics concerns Donald Trump.

It seems that many people in Ukraine are looking to Donald Trump for help in their struggles with Russia. Despite what many in the alternative media think, the fighting is real and most Ukrainians detest Russia for what Stalin did to them. Some of these people being interviewed demanded to speak in Ukraine  only, although they are fluent in Russian.

I noticed that the Russian governmental hierarchy is not happy with this agreement and views it as a mechanism in which Ukraine now becomes a borrower to the US. Putin, Lavrov, Medvedev, etc, denigrated it. They were hoping that the United States would just bail on Ukraine.

I also suspect Trump realizes that Putin is a real lying tyrant who can’t be trusted in any capacity and has no intention of ever quitting the fight. Russia still continues to bomb the cities around Ukraine and there’s no indication that Russia truly wants any type of lasting ceasefire. I also suspect Trump’s cabinet understands that there’s going to have to be some sort of assistance for Ukraine and the rare earth and raw materials deal covers the bases enough to save face.

That’s my two cents.

The economy seems to be rolling along

Despite what a slight majority in the States are thinking regarding an impending recession or possible economics crisis, so far, the Cassandra calls aren’t jiving, as the economic numbers just don’t bear it out.

I’m not seeing elevated inflation, even in the more real time data such as in the ISM and PMI, and the jobs market looks good. The numbers that came out this morning were much better than expected, even when we slice and dice through the more honest Household survey. Government jobs actually expanded.

I’m not saying that we shouldn’t eliminate the likelihood of a protracted downturn, but most of the consumer confidence data that suggests gloom and doom are skewed by Democrat voter input. The University of Michigan is notorious for skewing these numbers.

I’m not here as a biased Trump supporter, but I have to admit that despite his ostensible vacillating, Trump seems to be getting a lot of his objectives shoved through. For instance, if Trump tried to ratify the exact same rare earths agreement two months ago, he would have been shot down by a visibly hostile President Zelensky.

Ipso facto, I doubt that most of Trump’s ostensible backtracking is a sign of someone who is wishy-washy. Once again, I think there is method to the madness.

Here in the States, he has the backing of the majority of voters who support his objectives on most issues, other than the tariffs. How do I know? Over the past couple weeks, the stock market has been retracing a lot of the losses as investors realize much of what I’m saying is fleshing out. We may agree or disagree, but it seems that equity investors are calming down for now.

  1. Is this just a dog and pony show? We will see!
The US Treasury and the US Trade Rep office announced simultanousely, just after 6pm ET, that the US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will travel later this week to Switzerland to meet with a Chinese delegation led by Vice Premier He Lifeng, jump-starting negotiations between the two nations.

The travel was announced in statements Tuesday from the Chinese and US governments. It will be the first confirmed trade talks between the countries since President Donald Trump announced sweeping tariffs, led by punishing levies on China.

  2. Trump admits that Putin is a filthy liar…

Zelenskyy says Trump sees war differently after Vatican meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his April 26 conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump at the Vatican was “the best one we’ve had so far.” He made the remarks during a briefing with journalists on May 3, according to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

“Maybe it was the shortest [meeting], but it was also the most substantive. With all due respect to our teams, I believe the one-on-one format worked. We had the right atmosphere for a real conversation,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that Trump “started seeing things differently” after the meeting.

The White House described the discussions between the two leaders as “very productive.”

Following the meeting, Trump suggested that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not want to end the war against Ukraine and has been deceiving him. The U.S. president noted that Putin had no reason to launch missile strikes on civilian areas, cities and towns in recent days.

According to Axios, Zelenskyy used the short meeting to urge Trump to take a tougher stance against Russia and press for an unconditional ceasefire. The issue of Crimea was also raised.

On April 1, Zelenskyy said that the signing of a minerals agreement with the United States was the first concrete result of the conversation in the Vatican.

    1. In negotiations, you can’t want something too much, especially if one is dealing with a former kgb officer. Putin is trained in the art of deception. He could not tell the truth if his life depended on it. Putin like most world leaders will do as he is told by the SOS. Truth is relative to these psychopaths!

    2. I believe Trump is realizing that Putin is a lying psychopath. Putin does not want the war to end.
This is why Trump gave more on his end to get Zelensky to sign the mineral deal. Zelensky probably is realizing that the Socialists in Europe and the USA are playing him like a fiddle setting him up as a sacrificial lamb against the Russians. The Socialists in Europe and USA care about Ukraine as much as a murderer cares about his victims.

This mineral deal ultimately raises the USA stakes in Ukraine because we the USA now have more to lose in Ukraine if the Russians take over the country. This will give more incentive for USA to put boots on the ground if the mineral interests get infringed upon by the Russians. I see an increased chance of Ukraine becoming a WWIII flashpoint after this mineral deal.

  3. Stock Market Bull Charges On, Question Is When It Meets the Bear

Story by Alexandra Semenova • 3h ago

(Bloomberg) — The stock market is on a heater. After rising for nine straight sessions and gaining 10% in that time, the S&P 500 Index closed out the week on its longest winning streak in more than 20 years, recouping all of its losses since April 2, when President Donald Trump launched his global trade war.

  4. Buffett’s Berkshire Lifts Cash Pile to Record $347.7 Billion

(Bloomberg) — Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s cash pile climbed to a record $347.7 billion at the end of the first quarter as Chief Executive Officer Warren Buffett continued selling stocks while struggling to find opportunities to put money to work.

Operating earnings fell 14% from a year earlier, to $9.6 billion, the conglomerate said in a statement Saturday ahead of its annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska.

“Considerable uncertainty remains,” Berkshire said in the statement, referring to international trade policies and tariffs.

The insurance unit’s investment income rose 11% to $2.9 billion, boosted by a 31% increase in interest and other investment income as the conglomerate held more Treasury bills.

Berkshire Hathaway was a net seller of $1.5 billion of equity securities in the quarter, according to the statement.

The insurance unit’s underwriting earnings almost halved in the quarter, in part because of roughly $860 million of after-tax losses tied to the California wildfires.

Berkshire’s market value has hovered above $1 trillion since late January, reaching a price-to-book ratio of 1.79 at the close of trading Friday.

    1. Warren Buffet sees something wrong with the stock market if his cash pile is so high. I think he is waiting for a fall.

  5. “number of foreign YouTubers who travel regularly to Ukraine ”
Because that’s just what average joe people do during a real war situation..lol It’s a hoax! Wish people would start exposing it.

Labor report looked good, adding jobs, mostly in healthcare. A major Trumpy changarooski in in the midst? No China tariffs at all, taking it off the table as it was just a bluff? Just rumors at the moment, but we know how those last minute decisions have been turning out. Looks like the bottom is in, not much tanking any lower than the week of april 8th, the shorts made their money so now it’s time to spike it hard?

  6. I have not read the agreement, but I suspect this agreement may include American contractors and companies in the Ukraine. Even though there is no security agreement, having Americans in Ukraine may make things trickier for the Russians going forward. We shall see.

      1. A full 75% of YouTube commercials are full of non-Adamic blacks. I’m tired of having to cater to them.

I only have two more black tenants left. What a glorious feeling. I once had 8 black tenants as of 2022. I am down to only two.

Whitey landlord has to treat their black tenants with kid gloves, while black applicants wear BLM tee-shirts and smell like cannabis. And these are households making 100k+.

One of my black tenants smokes pot in my nicely updated house, while he tells me that his life is hard, because of racism.

The other black tenant is a nightmare. I can’t get her to leave. I want to sell the house but hides behind PG tenant laws.

I love European Caucasian people. I avoid all others. Being a landlord to white people is so much easier.

The synagogue glorifies people of color, while denigrating caucasians, so the Caucasians interbreed with the coloreds and remove Jacob from the earth.

        1. Most ads featuring blacks or hispanics these days portray them as rap thumping gangstas.
The few ads with blacks years ago portrayed them as civilized middle class people.
If most blacks are irresponsible today and hate us because we are white then it is best to keep away from these toxic people.

        2. The synagogue are the front men for satan. Anything they can do to down grade whites, they do and plot to do! They are the merchants and leaders of the Earth. Control of money and usury are their main weapons. They control every major industry and use those industries to enrich themselves while at the same time defiling whites!

          1. Yep. According to the secret societies (all controlled by the banking synagogue), all these manufactured regional wars will coalesce into WWIII and unfold exactly as Ezekiel 38 and 39. Jacob’s trouble soon as Jacob’s descendents, European Caucasians, are hoodwinked and ambushed.

And the disinformation crowd call them Japheth. The Jews actually think they are the chosen. None of the descriptions regarding the Israelites in the Bible at the end describes today’s Jews. Only European whitey fulfills the descriptions and satisfies the criteria.

All the organized religions are completely, totally, entirely, absolutely, without a doubt, wrong. The last days supposed Christian church are a bunch of dumbass lazy and PC suckers.
